The Blacksmiths Yard
Somewhere in old Derby can be found the Blacksmiths Yard. Once it would be shrouded with smoke and heat from the Blacksmiths small furnace, noise from his hammer and anvil, as he shod many a horse. Maybe a gentleman’s horse, or a humble delivery pony … and the clatter of those hooves on the cobbles would echo round this enclosed city space.
A century or so later, nothing much has change. The heat is from the many kitchens in trendy restaurants, the smoke from outside diners and the noise from a barrage of boom based music, just add the clatter of high heels and you see not a lot has changed, just the clientele... but early morning, the atmosphere is now one of calm.
The weekend is ahead, so get ready to enjoy… and as always….

I guess all old towns must have similar locations…. after all horses were the mode of transport. Not sure our Car dealerships will pass the test of time 🙂

I guess that’s called “progress.” But I think I’d prefer the old.
