Thoughtful Thursday…. The Day I met Peter Rabbit….

Followers over the years will know that Derwent Water is my very favourite location. Visited for many years, in all seasons and all weathers, walked evey inch of its shores and even sailed a yacht on the windy waters.

Derwent Water is surrounded by mountains, yet never feels enclosed. One of the mountain ridges is called Cat Bells.

If the name is familiar, maybe you have read the words of Beatrix Potter. You will know that Cat Bells is the home of Mrs Tiggy-Winkle, the Hedgehog.

On one of my many walks in the lea of Cat Bells, I came across Peter Rabbit, probably her most famous character…. there he was, sporting his famous Blue Coat, beady eye, bushy tail and long ears….. obviously I asked if I could take his picture.

Now let me state that I did not pose Peter. Here he was, all on his own taking in the view.

Obviously some child had been along with their favourite Beatrix Potter character, maybe taking their own picture, then in excitement gone on their way. He was dry, not been there long…so best policy was to go on our way, leave him in peace, no doubt the owner would soon miss Peter and be back for him…. well I hope so. 🙂

I know, I am a big softie, but that chance meeting made my day… I never did get to meet Mrs Tiggy-Winkle… Never mind it is another memory of my very favourite place….. and an early Easter Bunny
