” Six Big Sails on the Windmill “
Heage Windmill, Derbyshire, was built in1797, improved in 1850 and a Fantail added. After storm damage in 1894, whilst repairing, they took the opportunity to add improvements including the adding of two additional sails, making it a more powerful six sails windmill. It fell out of production in 1919. Now lovingly restored by Heage Windmill Trust and its volunteers, it is now the only working stone built windmill with six sails.
