The Trees are Still Green
Like many with gardens in the UK, whilst hoping for rain, we have been bemoaning the parched lawns, the struggling herbaceous and the dead seasonal bedding plants. Many of us have been thankful for creating colour hotspots with planters. They have been hard work keeping them watered.. . but this year that hard work has been worth it.
But sat on the patio with a coffee mulling over the dramas of this summers heatwaves with a friend, it dawned on me that the trees seem to have been coping with the summer traumas better than I would have expected. May be the record breaking wet but mild winter had helped.
We also talked about highlights of the season, what had thrived, what gave pleasure, what to do differently next year. Indeed there were lots…but for me it was the self seeded plants that appeared out of nowhere, often in odd places, but sometimes just right…. The Welsh Poppy was one such plant. No care given, no special watering and blink and there they were in abundance. All done now, just hope they return next year. 🙂

Friday and the weekend ahead. Relax if you can…. and as always….
