An Early Start……

Iceland…

It is Monday, a new week so lets make an early start to yet another week in Lockdown.

It was also a very very early start, around mid-summer, after a night when the sun never slept, when we arrived at Isafjordur on our Icelandic adventure.

It was so peaceful as we cruised up the Fjord, surrounded by snow capped mountains, with only the sound of seabirds as company, breathing in air that felt so fresh and clean…. it was therapeutic.

Another memory to brighten these strange times we are now managing…

The Power of Water…..

Godafoss falls

The mighty Godafoss Falls, Iceland.

Glacial melt water tumble and carve this spectacular display….. pictures they say, are worth a thousand words, and that may well be so…. but what they cannot do is bring you the thunderous sound of the cascading falls.

I look at the picture and I can still hear them….. and if you have also been to Godafoss you will also hear them.  🙂

A Changing World….. or Freshly Brewed.

Freshly-Brewed

Namaskard, Iceland.

The earth is still being created…well in Iceland there are many places where you can witness the creation as you stand and watch.

This geothermal region is literarily alive… Mud pots, steam vents, boiling springs, fumaroles and sulphur deposits all around.  From mountain range to the plains below you can walk and explore….. you can virtually see into the core of the earth….but don’t breath in too deeply the Sulphur fumes are rather powerful.

Whilst many of us complain about our changing climate, exploring Iceland does make you realise that we do live on a fragile ever changing planet.
