I come from a generation when family homes certainly didn’t have a Wine/Cocktail Cabinet. The occasional bottle of beer was stored beneath the kitchen sink and wine was nowhere to be seen.
Then when Christmas came around, a bottle of Sheery (usually Dry) would be found at the back of some cupboard. It would be dusted down, and a glass offered to special visitors……. I should add those glasses were, let’s say, “dainty”, resulting in a bottle lasting more than one Christmas.
As for Wine…. well, that was for the People in the BIG House.
Christmas always seems to generate memories of a different outlook, on a very different lifestyle….. amazing how it has changed.
Busy with Seasonal preparations or like me reflecting on life’s changes….. no matter, as always…
