Another Hot Day Forecast…. so best make an early(ish) start

Darley Park, Derby

It is going to be hot today…maybe 27 or 28c.  Last night we thought we were going to witness a  rather good sunset, sadly after a promising start the clouds cleared and there was no afterglow……  still what we had wasn’t that bad.   We also had the consolation of both a good forecast for today and the old saying “red sky at night, shepherds delight”

So that early start enabled Buster and I, to enjoy a good part of the day before it got too hot.  The bonus of course is that we had the Park almost to ourselves.  Although it a very familiar location we  never tire of  observing all the changes through the seasons and indeed changes influenced by the weather.

Last week it was wet, since Sunday it has been hot and  the foliage be it meadow, tree or hedge have just had another green growing spell.  Everything is lush.  Soon there were some more early birds sharing the splendour of the morning.  Like Buster and me they were more content to stretch their legs, rather than stretch out on the various benches, benches that on a day like today will soon be much sort after….

The return leg of the walk would be along the riverside.  The River Derwent is running smoothly…   much lower than last week, all calm and inviting.  Hard to think that the river was responsible for so much flooding earlier this year. Too early in the day for Sculler’s to be out.  The rowing clubs eerily quiet

The fish weir, still noisy, though running much lower than a week ago adding a cooling feel at the end of our  mornings walk..

Today they are announcing more relaxation of the Lockdown and social distancing rules.  Not that you would believe that there were still restrictions in place.   There has been too many folk out and about.  I don’t blame them for that, after all that is what we have been doing.  It has though been more noticeable, and worrying, that a significant number have no regard for others well being, no respect for space…… so

    • That’s the threat… After yet another Boris statement on easing restrictions., I guess it is hoping to be rather chaotic here. Ever since his “get in your car head to the beach” statement a significant number of folk made up their minds that lockdown had ended and there was little concern for others. But not to worry Boris says we all have to exercise common sense….. Not a good situation 🤔🙄
