Friday, summer returned. Saturday we were back into winter. Today it is summer again, but perhaps not quite as warm. Nice and fresh by the lake, calm and tranquil.
On into the meadows and there is a change. The yellows and pinks of buttercups and clover have all but gone. The grasses are now the dominant species…. but it is also that time of the year, when the greens start to lose there bright green hue for a more uniform darker green, the glistening sparkle on the leaves gone.
Willow Herb is now the prolific wildflower in many parts of the hedgerow…. not everyone’s favourite, but I rather like there tall spikes, as do the Bees. Butterflies are also active, too active for me, I only managed to capture a shot of one Gatekeeper.
The slightly cooler temperature made walking much more pleasant. So I guess, now that we are past the mid point in July, we can start to detect more seasonal changes.
Time to relax and enjoy but also to ponder on just what season the weather will bring us tomorrow!?
