The Beech leaves are starting to turn, Chestnut leaves are dropping, and green is slowly losing its vibrancy on our trees. Flowers are fading and petals falling, plants withering away into decay. All signs that autumn is starting to pick up its pace…
Strange times we live in but some sunshine, some autumn colour, some fresh air…. and it does lift the spirits.

The beeches in northern Virginia are one of the few things I miss about that area, but their colors were a much more subdued hue, a more pastel reddish-brown, as I recall. They do glow, though, when they’re backlit like this.

By the way…… remember the Purple Beech you asked about earlier in the year, in particular its leaf colour. I am keeping an eye on it. So far this summer it has had only rather dull green leaves….. as of yesterday it has not changed, no sign of the English Beech autumnal golden colours. I continue to watch. 😃

Of course I remember. I’m looking forward to your updates. We have also adopted and transplanted a beech and it seems to be thriving in our spring. I’ll keep a watch on it too and will see about a post report.

Such beauty! What a lovely post. Very wise to warn others to stay safe in these strange times. I’ve had the awful virus and written my blog about it 😢
