The most southerly point on the English Coastline…… No, its not Lands End, which sadly is now a Tourist Theme Park. This is Lizard Point on the very tip of Cornwall’s Lizard Peninsula. The Peninsula has to be one of my favorite areas of Cornwall. Surrounded by sea on 3 sides, on occasions lashed by Atlantic storms, but also capturing some of the warmth that drifts across from Europe and of course the Gulf Stream, it has created a very diverse and rich habitat, rich in flora.
It reaches its climax at its most southerly tip of England, Lizard Point. A rugged section of coast jutting out into the English Channel. Surrounded by rocky outcrops with such names as Mulvin, The Quadrant, Man of War, Enoch Rock, The Dales and Clidgas Rocks. Over the centuries a hazard to shipping. Understandably sheltering at the base of the cliffs is a Lifeboat Station.
A reminder that beauty can hide a multitude of dangers
Don’t put yourself in danger….

The closest I’ve been was Southampton, back in 1970. I see that, next time I’m in the area, I need to further exploration. This is amazing.
