Not a bad end to a Cold Day

The River Derwent, Darley Abbey, Derbyshire

The first really cold day of this autumn.  It has been sunny, a sun trying to tempt me out, sadly other duties rather got in the way.

At least the end of the afternoon was rather tranquil as the light rapidly faded. A perfect evening stroll.  The forecast is for mixed weather this week but becoming more wintery at the weekend.

    1. There is a Rowing Club on this stretch and a little further up stream, above a weir, a Canoe Club…they were (and I think still are) more into Canoe Slalom Events. My son Simon was a Slalom competitor, costing me a fortune taking him to weekend events all over the UK. 🙂

        1. Yes, I rather knew you were meaning what we call Canadian Canoes. Canoe is still the general cover all name for single canoes (or kayaks) where you sit, feet out in front, sealed in so you can roll in the white water. We then categories what we call Canadian Canoes (nothing like your open Canadians) into two competition groups C1 and C2. In both C1 and C2, the paddler kneels, but again sealed in. C1 is singles and C2 is doubles where one paddler sits directly behind his the other. But the Slalom Sport here is called Canoe Slalom. A very competitive sport with various grades from Premier down to Novice, with lower grades split again Adult and junior. Our son Simon was a top C1 Premier winner. Here is a link:
