A Winter Sunset at Allestree, Derbyshire
(but not this winters day)
For many days now we have been told to look to the West as the Sun goes down on the 21st. If we do, we are told, you will see the “Christmas Star”….. more precisely Jupiter and Saturn conjunction. An Astronomical event that hasn’t occurred here since 1226ad. and today on the Winter Solstice.
But the best laid plans of man and photographers can, and do, go wrong. Long Lens, Camera and Tripod, all ready to hand. Location sussed.
Sadly the weather had a very different agenda. Low cloud, more like Fog all day. No sunrise, no sunset, so no once in a lifetime experience.
Arh well, I will just have to wait another few hundred years for the next opportunity.
As always, whatever the weather, whatever your hopes….
Please Remember ….
Stay Safe …. Be Kind…. Look After Each Other
21st December

Same here…so overcast we couldn’t even see the moon let alone the Christmas Star. 😦 But I did see lots of photos from friends in other areas of our country who did get to see it.

And today, after a clear start the cloud has again decided we can do without the opportunity to view.
