We are now well past the mid point of October….. but as yet Autumn has yet to bite.
Fly Agaric are starting the autumnal process, always a colourful corner of the woods.
Moving further into the woods, there is very little to indicate that the seasonal change has started….green is still the dominate colour.
Dawn this morning didn’t fill us with confidence and the forecast was equally as vague. So the day did swing from blue sky and sunshine to threatening grey… warm sunshine to rain in the near blink of an eye.
Autumn has to arrive sometime, and soon I expect. I just hope that it want be a fleeting visit.
Whatever the season, whatever the weather, enjoy the weekend ahead… and as always…

It’s always wonderful to see the red mushrooms. I don’t have much luck in real life.

The past two years have been rather good for the Fly Agaric in our little part of the middle England. This year they are back again but a few weeks later. I will probably be shot down in flames by those fungi specialist but I do feel that this year season has so far been poor for fungi in general (Birch Bracket and similar being the exception)…. may be they have yet to come once autumn weather ‘proper’ arrives. We will see. I have usually found Fly Agaric under mature Silver Birch coppices. 🙂

I’m so sad because our leaves are not changing into beautiful autumn colors in our area. Instead they are turning brown and falling off. And now we’ve had rain and wind (even two tornado warnings) so in no time, the trees are going to be completely bare. 😦

Today the trees are looking lush green. Rain and dome warm air from the Med has given them a new lease on life
