Barely 4 miles from it’s moorland source, the River Derwent begins to pick up speed here at Cold Side and Ronksley Woods, in the Upper Derwent Valley, Derbyshire. It will soon enter Howden, Derwent and Ladybower Reservoirs before flowing down the length of the County until it joins the River Trent on the Nottinghamshire border.
