July… and its hot and sunny, so maybe a garden visit is in order.
The chosen destination was Hopton Hall, Derbyshire.
Parts of the Hall date back to 1414, but many extensions and styles have been added over the centuries. The Hall has had a chequered history and at times neglected. Thankfully the current owners have provided some much needed TLC. Even the woodlands and gardens received the same care. Today we visit the Summer Garden with its restored Rose Garden. The gardens are private and only opened for a few brief weeks and restricted days, in June and early July. So lets first take a tour of the Rose displays…..
Surrounding the Roses and sheltered by these high walls are the Herbaceous Borders….
Pass the vegetable plot, stroll along a garden ‘promenade’ and on out to the Lake.
On a summers afternoon, the Lake is the ideal spot to finish your garden walk…
You can also visit in February for a woodland display of massed Snowdrops… so we will make another date to return..
In a summer garden, maybe out and about or relaxing at home… …

I can never resist a stroll in a rose garden. Thanks for taking us there. I loved the statue with the mossy hair too.
