A Bright Start…. but the River is still running High and Fast

A sweeping bend in the River Derwent.  The sun from yesterday afternoon returned this morning.  It also brought a wind that was rising.  The Derwent is still running high and fast after all the rains of January and February.

Debris washed down river building up when ever it gets a chance to snag itself to the bank.

Even though the River is rather wild, further down stream a bankside Angler manages to find himself a calm eddy in which to fish….  though I suspect its just an excuse to sit and watch and enjoy the mornings sun.

Not sure this sunny spell of weather will last…. winds from the South West usually bring rains, and  this wind is gaining strength, so I reckon we will soon be topping up the Derwent once again.

No matter what the weather delivers…. Remember

Stay Safe …. Be Kind…. Look After Each Other

  1. Your last picture seems rather peaceful? Are there any edible fishes of acceptable size in this river?
If so, I think I would have erected a tent above that platform and mounted a small grill and stayed there most of my time! 🙂

    1. I suspect this is what we call a Coarse Fisherman. None edible fishing on a catch and release basis. But there are some Grayling in the winter months and as water quality has improved over recent years Salmon have been reported in the lower reaches of the Derwent. Not the clear Trout and Salmon waters you are used to 🙂

    1. We have record high February temperatures, trouble is it also brings some more rain. They tell us we have a few days of sunshine heading out way but then another cold spell. Yo-yo weather again
