Yesterday we summarised our March days of 2023. But despite the gloom we did have the occasional day that declared the arrival of Spring. I said occasional but maybe rare would be a better summary.
We were so lucky and received one such sunny Spring day this week, so it was on with the boot’s and a thick coat (sunny but still cold) then headed to Kedleston Hall, close to us here in Derbyshire. In the Grounds of the Estate, there is what is called the ‘Short Walk’… an ideal route for a short afternoons walk. It starts on a path lined with Pines which eventually give way to Beech and Chestnuts, fabulous tall skeletons against a blue sky….. and below there are carpets of Daffodils and Primroses. Chestnut ‘sticky buds’ bursting, Beech buds swelling and in one corner a Magnolia in blooms.
With expansive views over South Derbyshire countryside it was a grand afternoons stroll… maybe Spring is here.
A very welcome and invigorating breath of Spring…. we have been waiting for such a long time for such a day, we did wonder if we were going to miss out on that Spring feeling.
Check in on Sunday…. we will be at Kedleston for something very different.
Till then and always…..
Please Remember ….
