Far too good a morning to waste……. and for once the sun had some real warmth. A warmth that can only speed the arrival of Spring. So destination Calke Abbey Estate was the chosen location.
Wonderful old buildings and even more wonderful woods.
In these woodlands the fallen branches are left to decay where they fall, as they decay insects benefit from an easy food source.
Followers will also recall that I have one very favourite old Oak tree on the edge of the woods… it is called “The Old Man of Calke” and has survived for 1000 years plus.
So it was great to see that winter has left it much as we were here in December. As always, weather beaten in appearance, but looking closely the new seasons buds are swelling and it cannot be long before they burst out for yet another years.
Not sure just how long this spell of warm spring weather will last……
but you can be sure Buster, Jean and myself will be taking full advantage of any sunny opportunity
Whatever your weather, wherever you are…..
