Thoughtful Thursday…. It doesn’t always work out as planned

The island Castle Stalker on Loch Linnhe, Scotland.

It was a sunny start to the day. I knew the tide would be out in the afternoon and the light from the right direction for a shot I had in mind.   I have lots of shots of Castle Stalker, but did want one showing the watery channels cutting through the exposed kelp beds that would glisten in the sunshine, all with a majestic mountain backdrop.

As planned, we arrived early afternoon…. but as we were traveling north along the coast, the clouds came in and the rains started. We sat in the car watching the rain for an absolute age, constantly hoping the weather would make a sudden highland change.  Just about to call it a day, when very surprisingly a weak sun broke through a small gap in the clouds for a fleeting moment or two…. and we were given a rainbow.

Just time to grab a quick shot (no time for a tripod) as we knew it was then or nothing.

No sooner than the shutter was pressed, the rainbow vanished and the rain continued with more vigor.

Might not be the best shot, could be better in so many ways….. but sometimes you have to be grateful for what you got.  It is also a reminder, that just maybe, there will be another time, and it is still on my “to do list”

Thursday today, the weekend is ahead.  Probably you will have plans…. but as always….
